Kynance Cove, Cornwall

"Moonlit Cove" PT2 During this incredible evening I was lucky enough to be able to have 2 camera setups recording the blurring of the night sky at two different focal lengths. It still amazes me the details which can be seen expanding across kilometres of shoreline. Kynance Cove and the surrounding coast are owned and managed by the National Trust. It is part of the West Lizard Site of Special Scientific Interest and is in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Kynance Café, which opened for business in 1929, relied on spring water and on a generator for power. When the café became the property of the National Trust in 1999, the Trust renovated it and provided mains water and electricity. Being apart of the South-West Coastal path it in my opinion has to be one of the best sights that I've seen so far (I'm aiming to complete the entire thing one day!) Plus if you've been here a few times you know the best pasties are available at the end of an amazing walk. Copywrited © Alexander Harrison 2023

"Moonlit Cove" PT1 Kynance has always been a spot where I've wanted to try out new astrophotography techniques. From trails, to moonlight photography, to capturing Nebulas and Venus off in the distance, slow exposure sea blurring as well as the foreground this image has got a good mix of techniques. Walking out into the (semi) cold viewpoint late evening allowed me and @leahdrage_ to setup and compose with the early evening light. Unfortunately we noticed the moon would be in most of the composition making it very difficult to expose for the surroundings. Building up the photograph from several compositions would have to be necessary to bring out every detail in the image. This is one of the most unusual star trails I have taken part in, it's not normal to encourage the moon in a photograph, especially when you are focusing on staining the night sky with colourful trails. By isolating the trail of the moon I was able to get better details of some Nebulas which would be hidden away by the moons trails within a couple of hours. Copywrited © Alexander Harrison 2023
